A Little Scare for a Sunday Afternoon...

We blocked Josie in the backyard so she could enjoy some pre-winter/snowy days while my husband and I worked outside preparing the yard for winter. Things seemed incredibly quite so I went around to look for Josie. It is not like her to shrug off her supervisory duties. It is not like Josie to run away either. She does like exploring; and meeting and greeting everyone. Running is not her style. Well Josie was not in the back yard so the next question becomes whose tea party is she crashing?

I went left, my husband went right and we both yelled and searched for her. Our next-door-neighbour kids came to find us to let us know that they didn’t see Josie any where outside but wanted to know how many white dogs we had because the one young-adult had seen one inside. We just have the one white-dog: just Josie. Well it turns out that she was inside the house this whole time. Since neither of us put her back in the house, someone must have let her in the house and didn’t bother to tell us.

Besides being embarrassed we can rest easier knowing that it was all a false scare. Everyone, including Josie was all right.

Fallen Pretty In Pink Dogs' Friend, Sadie

Pretty In Pink Dogs is sadden this morning by the news of a fallen angel and a loved friend. Sadie passed away this morning of lyme nephrytis (kidney failure); she was the daughter of Josie’s friends, Dante and Liv.

Sadie’s whole family (human & furry), breeder, and Josie’s friends are all completely devastated by the news. Right now as our hearts are heavy and burden it is hard to remember how much joy Sadie gave but she did, she so openly gave love and joy to everyone and received just as much back in return.

I remember when I first met Sadie, at eight weeks old; I knew her before she had a permanent name. I knew her as ‘The Lady in Red’, a nickname given to her because she was given a red colour identifier when she was born. Like her siblings, she was so much fun to play with. So full of energy, Sadie and her siblings were as smart as whips and as cute as buttons.

Here is a photo of her when she was still with her parents (Dante and Liv) at 12 weeks old. She was ready to meet her new family in Mahwah New Jersey at 7.5 months; her new mommy, Carol, was so excited with her arrival.

Over the past year and a half, Josie-pie had managed to keep tabs of Sadie through news from Carrie, Sadie’s breeder. Josie was always so jealous to hear news of Sadie’s adventures at her summer home in Pokonoes. Like Josie, she too liked to play. And boy, did she liked to play; she played, and played, and played, and cuddled too with Carol and Aiden.

She loved all toys, especially a musical mouse, a clock looking stuffed toy, and a stuffed tiger. Sadie’s favourite thing was to play with Carol. Sadie was after all was mommy’s girl.

Besides being mommy’s girl; she liked everyone and greeted everyone with open arms ; a big open heart; and a wet nose. Everyone loved Sadie in return with great wonderful fondness. How could you not, look at those eyes! She will be missed by all her friends and greatly so by Carol, Aiden, Harley (Greyhound), Chloe (cockatoo), Bailey (Caique/parrot), and Emma & Molly, the two parakeets.

Puppies are 6 Weeks old Today!

Photo of Caillee's puppy on the second outing outside in our backyard on the weekend. They had a great time running around. Today they celebrate their 6 weeks birthday today. So they may not be getting a birthday cake but what about a nice puppy cookie each. Happy Birthday Puppy Girls!

What a Way to Spend a Day... Outside of Course.

It was stormy in the morning and stormy in the evening but in between it was sunny and dry. So all the littlest girls got to go outside and play a bit. Now since this is their second time outside, they spent less time checking out the grass and leaves but took the liberty to explore more of the back yard. This was also the day when I realized all the spots they could get up of the yard. No one escape from the yard; that could be next time.

In the previous video, someone had said that they couldn't believe five week old puppies could run so much and fast. Let me tell you, you haven't seen anything yet. There was more running, hopping, and sniffing today. As you will be able to tell from the video, the little girls were having a blast.

Toys & Gifts for Little Paws

I ordered a few things from a pet mail order catalog and got a lot of fun stuff. I got some nylon bones, one each for each of my newest princesses. Each got a new stuffed squeaky toy too (I never knew squeaky toys could come so small); each one is a different colour too. Oh so cute.

Update & Photos of the Puppies

This morning was wet from last night's thunderstorm and so I thought it was so great that we all had the opprotunity to go outside yesterday and now again it thunderstorming. There was some time in the midst of all this thunderstorms that it was sunny out and dry. So we all went outside. And yes I have a new video of their experience coming very soon. Just finishing it up.

I do have new photos!

Tina
Here is a photo of 'Tina'. I am positive that she will really complete someone's family some day. Look at those eyes, doesn't it just melt your heart? It sure does mine.

Junior
Here is a photo of 'Junior'. She is little mischief extrodinaire. She so reminds me of my Josie Diva Girl. I can see it now, she will be someone's diva girl.

Junior
'Little Goldie' What can I say about 'Goldie'. She is quite and all I have to say is to be very careful of those quite ones. Where 'Junior' is overtly mischievous, 'Goldie' does it all with grace. Smart, quite, and mischievous.... not a good combo for any novice hands.

Caillee's Puppies' First Day Outside

The past few days have been wet and cold; today was warm and the girls were ready for their first day outside in the backyard. Under Caillee-Mommy's supervision the puppy girls explored part of the backyard: they were running, hopping, sniffing, and pouncing their way into things. ‘Tina’ enjoyed playing with a dried out leaf, ‘Goldie’ thought the grass itself was most interesting, while ‘Junior’ was more interested in finding Caillee-mommy for lunch.

All and all the puppy girls had a great time outside and slept away the rest of the afternoon.

Camera On, Camera Off....

"I saw it, Goldie is darling. What does Josie think?"
Vicky

Josie LOVES puppies. You can't tell that in the video. She usually wants to play so bad and they aren't playing back like she would like them to. I have seen her lay down by their box whippering. Until Cailee 'shoo's her away. In the video she looks rather in-different about them. I swear Josie understands camera. Lately when the camera is off, she is enjoying herself playing with them, sniffing them and getting sniffed back.... everyone's tails are a-wagging.... camera on, all serious... I wasn't playing ... it wasn't me. I need a stand and a remote......

Video: Caillee's Puppies and Josie

Poor Josie is just trying to check out the puppies. Seeing what all the fuss is about. These Havanese girls are doing the same, just seeing what this white fur ball is all about and what's on the other side.

I feel like I am losing the battle...

I feel like I am losing the battle to get them to like something other than their mother's milk. Mind you it just a gruel right now but I think its a pretty nice gruel, formula & baby cereal. It looks and smells like a nice little mush. They really like it the other day when I used chicken broth instead of formula. Yup, they liked that. Today I tried the same thing. Nope, didn't care for it. That with or with ground beef.... nope nope nope.....

I know I will win this little battle. I feel teeth coming in. I felt a few that have broke through the surface. Until then, I am their amusement every so often in the day. I also realize that there is no rush there is still time. There isn't many of those teeth coming in just yet and they aren't that big yet. Come six weeks girls, there will be a war coming on and I will win! And you will love the mush I give you.... muhahahaha (evil laugh)

Mount. Juanita

My husband had taken all the puppies out to play with them and left them there in the ex-pen when I came to teach them to lick up their food. This would be nice I had thought, I will get them to eat outside of their box this morning. Bad idea. As I got one concentrated on eating from the spoon, one puppy would climb over my legs. I didn't want to remove that puppy because I finally got one of them eating out of the spoon. She would stop eating and I would then take the adventurous puppy off of me. I would get another one eating and another one would climb all over me like it was the best adventure ever. This cycle continued until the bowl was almost finished. I am not Mount Everest. It was a conspiracy I tell you. I am convinced they had this all preplanned out and I fell for it.

Everyone needed to get groomed

So yesterday I decided that everyone needed to get groomed. Caillee, Josie, and the puppies. As I was grooming 'Junior' she decided that she had enough and peed on my grooming table. "What do you mean? I am not allowed to pee there?"

Update....

'Tina' seems to be a lapping machine. I really do think she has the hang of licking up food from a plate. Her sisters on the other hand still disagree with this whole notion that food can be found else where than mommy. Soon they will have to see things my way. Well considering that I can feel their baby teeth coming in, they will have to eat from a plate; Caillee won't be so forgiving of sharp baby teeth.

My husband complained that every time he picks up 'Junior' to play with her she pees on the floor. Oh course she is going to do that, he keeps picking her up from sleep. Even most people have to go to the bathroom right after a long sleep. Isn't that just normal.

Josie is being a great aunt; she loves to play with them. I think she gets a little overwhelmed when they all decide to attack her all at once. It it hilarious to watch. I really do need to get that on video.

Caillee, the puppys' mommy, is completely brushed out and ready for a bath. She will have that in a few minutes after I get off my computer. Josie will get her bath right after words but don't say it too loud, she can hear these things.

Puppies are Four Weeks Old Yesterday

Yesterday, Caillee's puppies are officially four weeks old. I quickly put together the above video of them playing together. Its simply adorable when they wag their tails and walk. Mind you they still spend most of their time sleeping. 'Junior' is almost a kilogram, over 3/4 of the way there; I have been thinking of changing her nickname to 'Piggy' or "Little Miss Piggy'.

I continuing to teach to lap. Right now they think its very humorous. I can understand, mommy's milk most likely tastes better and they can lounge while they drink. They think its the funniest thing to grab my finger while I'm trying to teach them to lap liquids/mush and try to toss it around like they would one of their toys. Of course I immediately give them a toy more appropriate for tossing but come on I sure they are thinking: toss a nice soft toy or tug and pull the giant; you be the judge.

I like most people say that the best is when a puppy gives them puppy-kisses on their check or when they curl in your arms but boy oh boy I tell you, the best is when they look directly at you and start wiggling their tails.. That seems to melt my heart every time.

Just for the record, being peed on is not that funny.

Updates.....

Someone asked me how Tina was doing… this only means I am not updating this blog enough.  Tina is doing fine… sleeping and playing, and doing other puppy stuff like the rest of them.  A couple of days ago I watched her walk, relatively speaking, over to the piddle-pad area, squat and pee.  I was so proud, how can you not be?  Those eyes of hers are dangerous; I can’t help but melt in them.  She is so adorable and she loves to cuddle, that is when she is not trying to leap out of my hands to go play with the others.

C. Junior had resisted any attempts what so ever to learn to lap food.  It was only formula, something easy and similar to mommy’s milk to start out on.  NOPE.  She always backed away whenever she could and completely resisted any of my attempts to convince her that it might be yummy.  She wanted nothing to do with these situations.  She completely reminded me of a dolled-up and spoiled little girl (most likely in pig-tails) with her armed crossed and a scowl across her face. Then one day, without any help, coaxing, or encouragement she walked over and lapped a little bit.  Mind you that was it, just a little.

You know I was thinking the other day, if Goldie-locks was human she was be this blonde secret agent: tall, beautiful, and smart.  She has this quite disposition about her and if you dare look into her eyes they would tell you…. Be mesmerized by my beauty and now you must do as I say…

They are all getting so much better at walking.  I saw Junior doing a hop (I think) attacking a toy.  She is so funny.  She has this cloth toy in her mouth where she shakes vigorously around with her head.   It is also funny watching her trying to grab a small ball with her mouth.  The ball is small but she still isn’t quit big enough to be grabbing and carrying that around as she may want to.

What a Precious Moment I had Over my Lunch Hour

I went home today for lunch to check on Caillee and the puppies; and especially 'Tina' who has been doing some struggling as of late. The first darling moment was when I noticed ‘Caillee Jr’ standing up on all four paws almost steadily for a whole three seconds. She sat down and wiggled her tail for a bit. Trust me, it was adorable to watch. The second precious moment was just a few minutes later, I was talking away to them when ‘Caillee Jr’ looked directly at me and wiggled her tail. What a heart melting moment!

Update on the Puppies

Hours after I posted the 'They are now 2 weeks old video', 'Caillee Jr' opened her eyes, 'Tina' was re-nicknamed to 'One-eye Tina', and 'Goldie Lockie' still had her eyes closed.

The next day, everyone had their eyes open but for 'Tina', she was still the 'One-eye Tina' until later that evening.

This morning everyone has their eyes open. 'Caillee Jr' is practically walking, well sort of, she is not standing up and walking but she moves lickitee-split just the same. Everyone else is a almost there

Caillee is doing wonderfully.

And Josie in all of this?

Don't worry Josie.... you're still my favourities girl in the whole wide worldsie.
