The Move: Had to drive slowly

We had dangerous road conditions to deal, Josie and Caillee made sure we drove slowly.

Yup, we were still on the road.

Moving Tip#15: We purchased one hot meal a day but we purchased enough for three people meal even though there was only two of us and the left overs we kept for the next day to eat in the car so we could keep trucking!

The Move: Fill Up

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 14/25 Part Series.



I am telling you filling up full u-Haul trucks was very expensive. We spend around $140 on each fill-up. I don't remember the capacity it had but it too was a lot.


Moving Tip #14: Everyone needs to walk around and take a pee break whenever you can, you and your dogs.

The Move: On the Road, Another Day

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 13/25 Part Series.


On the road. That was the view we saw for days and days. Endless nothingness of payment and snow.


Moving Tip #13: Have a cell phone on you for safety. Of course there were some areas there was no receiption but in general that is generally a good tip.

The Move: A Tim Horton's Pit Stop

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 12/25 Part Series.


We enjoyed many Tim Horton pit stops along the way. You be surprised how many Tim Horton coffee shop there were during our big move from Winnipeg to Ontario. Of course you would believe me as you hold your Tim Horton's cup in your hand.

Moving Tip #12: Go to grocery stores to pick up fruits and snacks that are easy to eat in the car.

It was too cold out for us to be eating picnic style anywhere but we snacked as we drove.

The Move: Josie Needing to Enjoy the View

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 11/25 Part Series.



Josie loved hanging out the window but in her case hanging beside the Window. I notice that she loves to enjoy the view even if it was just a wide blanket of snow.

Being on the road is no excuse for not getting a few brush strokes in; I didn't get hardly enough and the poor girls ended up a bit matted.

Moving Tip #11: Visit your local CAA chapter to pick up a 'Trip Tric', they are able to lay out your way from start to finish.

The Move: Josie Out the Window

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 10/25 Part Series.

If Josie wasn't sleeping, she was hanging out with whoever was sitting at the passenger side window. One of her favourite most favourite spots in any vehicle.

Moving across Canada, Josie got to drive by and see lots of great and some spectacular views of Canada's scenery.

Moving Tip #10: Take along some thermoses with you on your next moving trip you can have some hot drinks and save some money too.

Every time we stopped at a hotel, each morning I would make some tea for my thermos and some coffee for hubby's thermos. Friends did give us some Tim Horton's gift cards for our moving trip that we so enjoyed, so with some coffee and tea money we saved, we got to enjoy some donuts, croissants, and hot soups. I had so many donuts on the trip that I couldn't eat another donut for a while.

The Move: Enjoying the View

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 9/25 Part Series.

Like any dog, hanging out of windows seems fun and a natural doggie activity. Just be careful, any dog not contained by either a seat belt harness or a crate in a could end up becoming a projectile object in your car in the event of an accident. Just an FYI.

Moving Tip #9: If you are the passenger bring something to do with your hand to keep yourself awake. This way you can better interact with the driver and keep him awake.

During the our moving trip I brought some knitting. I have no idea how to knit but just recently learnt how to do a couple of knitting techniques. I have no idea how to end my knitting project. Apparently, ending your knitting project is very similar to how you started your knitting project. That's just great for me, I can't remember how I even started. My knitting project is too big to be a dish cloth anymore and far too short to be considered a scarf. It is going to take me a very long time to learn how to knit a doggie sweater which was my goal in learning how to knit. Is there any hope for me? Is there any hope for Josie getting her pink knitted sweater made by mom?

The Move: Josie and Caillee

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 8/25 Part Series.
Josie and Caillee handled the road trip across Canada in stride. Here both are on the seat beside us with there harnesses on.

They both did a lot of sleeping between stops.

Moving Tip #8: Makes sure to take many breaks: keeps you alert and keeps your joints from getting sore. The exercise keeps them sleeping while you drive.

The Move: On the Road Again

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 7/25 Part Series.

One way we passed the time driving was to listen to an audio book. Yup, just one and it was so long we didn't even finish it while we were on the road.

The Move: On the Road

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 16/25 Part Series. Distance makes the heart grow fonder...

Driving across country, this was our view for miles and miles... or should we say kilometres and kilometres.

For the first day of our travels, it was great.... nothing but breath taking country side. We drive by towns, lakes, rivers, mini-mountains, closed fruit stands, and snow everywhere! We moved back in late February and early March where there they were still covered by snow.

The closer we drove to southern Ontario, the less and less snow we saw to the point where we thought it must be spring already.

Moving Tip #16: Take a moment to enjoy the view that Canada has to offer. Many people are envious of this beautiful country.

The Move: Getting the Moving Truck

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 6/25 Part Series. Moving is never closure but a hope for a new beginning.

Here is the biggest U-Haul trailer you can possibly rent from U-Haul, their 26' truck. We used this truck to haul all are possessions from Winnipeg Manitoba to St. Catharines Ontario.

The person at the dealership we picked up the trailer from allowed us to take it first to load all our stuff and come back to hook up the car hitch. I thought that was very kind and generous of him.

The truck was so big, we needed to make sure there was a 12' clearance under any bridge we drove under.

Josie and Caillee really took to the travelling lifestyle, they handled themselves really well in the truck.

Moving Tip #6: Make sure you check the distance you will need to travel from point A to point B and make sure you have been allowed a generous amount of distance from your rental company to make the trip.

We didn't have any problems this trip. When we moved from St. Catharines Ontario to Winnipeg Manitoba, the truck rental company didn't give us enough mileage to cover the distance to make the move and wanted up to pay the difference in extra mileage charges. We did get the matter cleared up but not without the aid from google map to explain the minimum required mileage to cover the distance didn't match what we were first allowed.

The Move: Still a Bit More Packing

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 5/25 Part Series. Starting a new job can be very exciting.
Packing can be long and tiring work even for our fearless Josie. All the boxes and furniture we wanted to keep were moved to one area, the basement. Josie thinks that it helped all of us to feel like progress was made each day and made it easier to see what needed to be done upstairs clearly.

Moving Tip# 5: Label each box and keep an inventory sheet so you can find what you need faster later.
