Chocolate Chip Cookie for Lunch

Caillee found some really interesting thing in mom’s lunch bag this morning.

Caillee always like to assist in the helping of all meals and it doesn’t matter the meal or who is eating it. It could be breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, picnic baskets, or even a lunch for work.

Today was that moment, a lunch for work, just laying on the floor ready to grab and toss into the car.

Caillee always checks each and every bag for anything that might smell so wonderful and really, mom should have known.

Today, she found a large cookie. A cookie with chocolate chips mixed in it. So what if it was covered in plastic, that could easily be taken care of.

Oh, how delicious it was. How ever so scrumptious it was. “Now, just why was this cookie taken away form me?”, Caillee thought. So not fair the thought.

A Visit at Linda's House

A few months ago, the whole gang was visiting Linda and her canine pack. We were on our way home, the last phase of our travels back home to Ontario. We had a stop over at Linda's house where we were given the red carpet treatment.

Linda was so excited that we had decided to move to Ontario.

Here is a photo of Josie at Linda's house, at the corner of her living room, I think. She is sporting her winter look here.

A few days later and through a series of family miss communications, I had to ask Linda to take care of Josie and Caillee for a few days until we were able to move into our temporary home. So we had to find a temporary place before our temporary home. It was a really interesting time and I didn't like being away from Josie and Caillee for so long even if it was a 'we had situation'. Going on vacation would have been a more desirable reason but it wasn't the case. I am so grateful Linda was able to take care of my pouches.

Pretty In Pink Dogs' Blurb on feedmil.com

We have an opportunity to write a little blurb on Prettyinpinkdogs.com on Feedmil.com, a Feed services that starting April 2009. Any ideas? I am open to suggestions, better suggestions, any suggestions.

Part of the struggle is that the website already has a strong and to the point description that we must of groomed over for, well, perhaps forever. Sure, it does need to be updated to remove Hyacinth's name since she is no longer with us. The next questions is, if I had the opportunity to say more, what would it be?

Our only real complaint about Feedmil.com, as the authors of one of the websites listed there is the words that showed up for the topic cloud. There were words I wouldn't have used as the main topics, at last - just my opinion.

The Perfect Poop Bags for Small Dogs

Regular sandwich bags make the perfect dog poop bags or dog waste bags, for small dogs of course.

They are cheap, available everywhere, and up little room in your pocket.

If you are in a real pinch at a restaurant and want to take some meat home for your doggies, then you can reach in your pocket and take out a sandwich bag that you could have used to pick up waste with but instead you could be bringing back yummy teats back to your pouches.

I do that all the time: use sandwich bags mostly for waste but for the occasional bring home some treats when the opportunities arise.

Pretty In Pink Dogs is Finally on Twitter...

Josie and Caillee have finally joined Twitter even after a long time of resisting the fad.

This is the photo the girls decided to use.

Josie thinks that she will update her followers of when she gets really yummy treats from hubby; long walks; adventures in town; and the occasional nap.

Caillee says that she might update her followers on how she helps mommy with her paperwork and assists her on the computer. Caillee likes to think that she has a good handle on style and loves to give her opinion by putting her paw on it.

After a long day at the park

After a long day at the park, you will find poor Caillee under a bench somewhere.

Poor Caillee is a black colored Havanese in the hot sun. That day wasn't actually that hot but the sun was beating down enough for any black dog with lots and lots of hair.

Lots of water and lots of shade is always on call when you have a dark colored dog - even for light colored dogs like Josie.

Local Wildlife at Port Dalhousie, St. Catharines

While at Port Dalousie in St. Catharines Josie and Caillee saw local wildlife. We saw lots and lots of ducks. We saw people feeding the ducks and seagulls even though there was signs posted everywhere asking people not to feed the ducks.

I only have one question…. How are white swans apart of Ontario’s local wildlife?

A Beautiful Victory’s Day to Stroll in the Park

Thank you Queen Victory for having a birthday where we could all, as a family, have a day off and go out to a park.

We all went out to Port Dalhousie, a very popular destination in St. Catharines that has a waterfront pier, mini-park, beach, boutiques, and an honest to goodness original wooden-horse carousel.

We walked. We talked. We laughed. And there was much to see!

We walked around the neighborhood looking at all the houses. Josie found many things to sniff at.

Photos from Cali's Big Day in the Ring

With all of life's craziness, we totally missed out on Cali's big day in the ring. Her big day was at the last Havanese Fanciers’ National Specialty, last November, where Cali tried out for the best altered female.

Us folks around already know she is the best and a little ribbon doesn’t hurt any….

Hydabrek's Cali had her big day in the ring too during the Havanese Fanciers Specialty this year.

Here is Cali arriving at the show grounds in her mom's arms. There was lots of noises, smell, and lots of excitement for a wee little girl.

Here is Hyacinth taking a back seat to Cali's Arrival. She was near the ring at this point so she kept herself occupied by all the comings and going in the area. If you look very closely, you will notice that the black dog in the background is actually Jinx, Hyacinth roommate for the weekend.

Poor Cali, she was a bit over whelmed by all the happening around her. Dog shows can be a very busy place to be. You can see how scared and nervous Cali was by how curled up she is in this photo.

Doesn't Cali look so funny in this photo? I love it! She is being groomed and readied for the ring.

Josie Almost Had a Near Dealth Experience

We all went out to find all the Burger Kings around town to see if we could get the new Star Trek drinking glasses from Burger King, specifically the orange ones with Mr. Spock on them. We drove all around and came up with a big nothing.

Josie and Caillee came with us on our little adventure. On the way home from our disappointing trek around town, Hubby asked to be drop off a couple of blocks away from the house.

Now we were driving the newer car that does not automatically lock the doors as soon as you shift the car into drive like the older car does. I don’t know what Hubby was thinking but he accidentally opened the car door as I was turning the corner and not slowly may I add.

Josie almost fell out of the car as the car door swung open and she was being held by dear life by hubby somehow. I could see the white ball of fur at his side where the car door if closed should have been.

I stopped the car and Josie was pulled by in. If Hubby for some reason hadn’t had a good grip on her or if she was leaning freely on the door, I could have fell out and because I was turning, she would have fell where she would have been run over by the car.

I know it was an accident and not intentional at all but there is a new rule at this household – lock your door! And don’t play with the car door handles.

Reflecting on Zoe's Visit and Hyacinth's memories

Having Zoe, our visitor from Regina Saskatchewan, here even for a brief period in time gave me a few things to think about. It was great having her here and she was a lot of fun having. At the time, back in late February, I had recently lost my own Havanese puppy girl. There was so much of Zoe that reminded me of my precious Hyacinth. Especially when Zoe licked my nose, Hyacinth used to always lick my nose when I had her in my arms.

Its now May, many month since Zoe’s stay and many more months since Hyacinth’s demise. Since then I was wondered if I am ready for another dog or if I would ever be ready again.

I have been so busy with the move back to Ontario, my new job, finding a place to stay, and reconnecting with old friends, I haven’t been afforded the time to think a lot about Hyaicnth.

I still don’t know what to do about Hyacinth. Should I sue the professional handler who was responsible? Its is a very real option now that I have moved back home to Ontario and being already here in Ontario makes things much easier if I sue.

What other options are there other than suing him?

I still want Hyaicnth back and that’s not an option; never was. How does a person move on from here? What is fair justice? Is ‘fair justice’ an oxymoron? What about just the word justice?

As far as I am concerned, I haven’t seen anything resembling justice, fairness, or even kindness surrounding the death of my Hyacinth Bucket. The more I think of my Hyacinth and what happen to her, the more upset and right down mad I get. I tell you, I am mad.

Zoe from Regina SK Comes for a Visit and Says Good-bye

We had a little visitor come stay with us for a short while. Her name was Zoe and she needed a little helping hand to get to her new home in Regina, Saskatchewan. I offer to help Zoe make her connecting flight the next day which meant she had to stay with us for a brief time.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. So Zoe must part from our lives and be with her own family. It was so nice to have Zoe stay with us; from her little wee puppy breath to her wiggly tail will be surely missed. As you part from us, we wish you the very best and lots of love.

Zoe from Regina SK Comes for a Visit and Plays in Snow Part 2

Here are more photos of Zoe playing in snow.

It was so nice having Zoe around, even if it was just for a short time. It was sort of like having Hyacinth around again but back when she was that young. What tender moments Zoe reminded me of.

World's Oldest Dog Goes to the Big Apple to Celebrate

Can you believe this? Chanel, dachshund, turned 21 this month and got to go to New York, NY to celebrate it. The poor girl had to wear goggles because of her cataracts and a bootie to protect her one foot. For a very old dog, I thought she handled the whole event pretty well.

So Josie, what do you have planned for your 21st birthday? Ok, ok, so you have some time to think about it.

Digging for Treats

I got home after a long day at work and put my purse down on the floor. I didn't think anything of it and totally forgot about doggie treats I had left in my bag.

Here is Josie digging-in my bag.

"There has got to be something good in here!"

"I'll find it!"

"Almost there"

"I got it"

Here is Josie eating the rewards of my deep bag. What dog needs a cookie jar when when you have mom's purse.

We're Back!!!

We have been off line, away from the Internet for so long....

Since our last post, our humans got new and exciting jobs back home in Ontario. I used to live in Ontario in my younger pups days. Mom had been talking about going back home forever but only if the right job came along.

Well I guess mom got just that job and before I knew it my bed and toys were packed up and I was off in a U-Haul truck trekking across the Parries.

Turning this time of us being off line, so much has happened and it wouldn't do just to summarize everything in one post, I will make sure my editors do a good job detailing some of the highlight at least.

Josie
