Guess Who? Part I

Look at the photo I found. Guess who that is? Could it be Mim? Could it be Cali? At first glance I thought it was Cali but there just wasn’t enough white on her chin or chest. According to the properties of this photo, it says the photo was taken August 21st, 2005. That’s right, it has to be Caillee! She would have been almost four months in this photo. Doesn’t she look like the cuties puppy girl ever? Gee puppy girls, you looked just like you mommy did when she was four months.

I have another photo, I will save that one for tomorrow.

Poem: Before I was a Dog Mom, author unknown

Before I was a Dog Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got
to bed or if I could get into my bed.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I cleaned my house everyday.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies,
or invited the neighbour's dog over
to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I didn't worry if my plants,
cleansers, plastic bags, toliet paper,
soap or deodorant were poisonous
or dangerous.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never been peed on
Pooped on, Drooled on,
Chewed on
Or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts, My body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing
the covers or pillow.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes
and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million
pieces when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and
four-legged could affect my heart so
deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of
the night every 10 minutes to make sure
all is well.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth,
the joy, the love , the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of
being: A Dog Mom.

Amazing Friday!

My girls had a most excellent Friday. For starters Caillee earned two qualifying ribbons for Rally Novice A, and Hyacinth won a Best Puppy in Show rosette at the Fort Garry Kennel Club.

Caillee and I had so much fun in the ring doing Rally, sort of like obedience and agility but without the equipment.

Hyacinth looked like she had a ton of fun in the ring too. I didn’t show her today. Caillee and I watch from the sidelines. She looked so pretty out there. I hope to have photos later.

Dear mom, Why does Josie

Dear mom,

Why does Josie get all the attention?

Why does Josie get to have my bone?

Why does Josie get to play with my toys?

Why does Josie get to for long walks with daddy?

Why does Josie get to hog daddy’s lap?

Feeling a little disgruntled,

Hyacinth

Here's a secret

Here is a secret, Josie snores. While watching TV, we all kept hearing heavy breathing and then a bit of light snoring. We looked around and around and we found Josie on a chair fast a sleep... snoring away. She is getting pretty loud in her old age.

It's only a Peanut Butter Jar, Good Grief!

Josie made it sound that she got the grand prize that day. She kept the empted peanut butter jar all to herself. She took the jar to a near by empty crate where she could lick its contents in peace with no interferance from Caillee and Hyacinth. You can't really tell but that dark speck in the photo is actually Caillee watching intently for any signs that Josie might give up the prized jar.

Having Some Fun with the Cat

The girls were having a bit of fun on the cat's expense. Here is Seraiah, our cat, trying to enjoy some warm weather outside.

The girls decided that it was very fun to try to catch the cat. Here is Caillee and Hyacinth following the cat around the deck.

Here is the cat making his grand escape.

Better luck next time girls.

It was raining out

Here is Hyacinth after running around in the back yard, making sure not to miss any garden area while it was raining slightly outside. I might be a little hard to tell but she doesn't have that many dark tips, most of the dark tips you see below are mud.

Here is good close up of those dark tips she has. Most are mud in this photo I tell you. Needless to say, a bath is to follow soon.....

Update from Cali

We heard from Cali today, Cali is Hyacinth’s sister and Caillee’s daughter. We love hearing updates about Cali and here is a little snippet:

“Cali is amazing!!!! She is absolutely delicious!

Can't stop hugging and kissing her and she gives it all right back. Loves hubby too! As a matter of fact she seems to love everyone she meets. She is an extremely well adjusted and happy.

She has just learned to ‘beg’. Took her a while as she was just flopping around like Jell-O. Now her balance is really good. May we ‘brag’ about her tricks and obedience commands to date? Okay... if you insist (LOL): stay, wait, sit, down, roll over, no and then okay, come, beg, go up the stairs, go bed, speak, paw (she's a righty) and down (verbal and hand gesture).”

Cali’s Mom

Cali sounds so adorable and sounds like she is doing so well. Caillee wants me to pass a message to Cali, “make sure to brush your teeth and wash your ears”. Mothers, good grief. Hyacinth also wanted me to pass along a message, “I miss you”.

Ch. Hydabrek's Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet)

That's right, Hyacinth is offically a Canadian champion! She became a champion this weekend with two Group 4 placements and two more Best Puppy in Group making a total of five Best Puppy in Group rosettes so far.

Her championship hasn't phased her one little bit. She still is as happy, bouncy puppy as ever. Good work Hyacinth! Keep it up.

Hyacinth did again this weekend

Hyacinth did it again this weekend with Winners Bitch ribbons each day at Hub City Dog Show, Saskatoon Saskatchewan last weekend. She went on her first out of province dog show with Laurel Skuba (her professional handler).

While Hyacinth was in Saskatchewan, I was in North Dekota, and the rest of the girls was stuck at home. Poor Caillee and Josie.... stuck at home. Forced to lay on the couch all day, eat junk food, and take long walks. Life can be so hard.
