The Move: More Packing

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 4/25 Part Series. Winnipeg is only for the hardy.... we weren't so hardy I guess.

Josie took all this packing in stride. We put Josie on top of all the boxes in the basement and took this picture. We almost filled the basement with all our stuff. All packed and labeled. Don't think that an almost full basement means we were done, still more....

Moving Tip#4: Pack what you don't need first and leave out what you think you just can't leave without to last – This way it would be easier to live in temporary living later if needed.

Just Another Walk

Josie and Caillee, well, mostly Josie really enjoys her walks.

Here Caillee and Josie are walking down a local country road in Southern Ontario.

Josie likes to sniff and check everything out through short and tall grass; while Caillee likes to stay on the pavement.

Sometimes Josie and hubby walk alone through the neighbourhood.

Fine with Caillee and I as we enjoy the sofa.

The Move: Packing

We all decided to move back home to Ontario: 3/25 Part Series. Reconnecting with old friends is important too.

Caillee was very excited watching all that was happening. She was helpful packing up the house, always by our side making sure we didn't miss a thing. Caillee took the time every once in a while to remind us that she needed a good grooming in between all this packing.

Still, Josie is always a very good supervisor, keeping a watchful eye over all that hussle and bussle.

Moving Tip #3: Keep all your receipts regarding your move in a large envelope. If your move helps you to reduces the amount of kilometers commuted each day to your work by at least 40km, you can claim many of your expenses involved with your move - See Canada Revenue Agency.

The Move: Planning and Packing

We all decided to move back home to Ontario. 2/25 Part Series. Most of our family live in Ontario.

Josie was very good in supervising all the plans involved with moving. She made sure that we packed her favourite doggie bed and all her toys. She asked that we bring all the doggie treats in the moving truck with her.

Josie said that if it was necessary, we could bring Caillee along with us during the move. I thanked Josie for her consideration. What a wonderful little doggie - so caring and considerate.

Moving Tip #2: When traveling with pet always research hotels that accept pets and book early.

There is a New Licensed Driver on the Roads

Cali is the newest Ontario driver on the road. She earned her doggie driver's license just a little while ago with flying colours. She is own of the first doggies to earn her freedom on the roads, and a Havanese no less.

Cali says “driving on the highways still make me a bit nervous and I stop at all fire hydrants I pass”.

Cali's mommy, Caillee, is reported to be extremely proud and begs that her puppy girl stays safe.

A Day out with Friends and Family

Josie and Caillee got to enjoy a day at Beamer Falls in Grimsby Ontario with some friends and family. Lots of leaves everywhere and a great view. There was so much to sniff, so much to do.

They got to meet other dogs along the way. They meet a Golden Retriever and most Bichons. It's always great to meet other Bichon cousins.

There was a beautiful view.

Photos Need some Sorting

We need to go through all the photos we have collected over the past few months and get cracking on some stories. A lot has happen in the past few months and a lot will happen in the coming months.

We are gathering all the photos and sorting through them.

Caillee is a bit disappointment that some of the photos of her did not turn out. I kept telling her that it is hard for us humans to take nice photos of dark coloured dogs.

Raccoons Need Rescuing

I read a local story of an Oakville resident having a hard time figuring out what do with with a couple of orphaned baby raccoons.

While driving home one day, she noticed a dead raccoon on the side of the road. Later that day she find two baby raccoons outside her front door. After two days of trying to make sure their mother would find them according to instructions given by the local human society, she now has to find someone else to take care of them.

All the agencies she has called are full and cannot take the baby raccoons. Only one agency so far will take the raccoons off her hands but only to euthanize them. The real kicker is that it is illegal for her to continue to take care of them in Canada. You have to be a licensed wildlife rehabilitater.

So if she continues to take care of them, they will be taken away anyway and killed; and she will be charged or fined.

She cannot keep the raccoons:
  1. The more human attention they get the less likely they will survive on their own without continued human assistance or they will just get accustomed to humans which is never good for wild animals.
  2. The authorities will eventually charge her for keeping wildlife at her place of residence.
Either way, she cannot keep the raccoons. Nor does she want to according to the article. And understandably so. Just sounds like she wants no harms happen to the poor young baby raccoons and for them to live wild and free. Sounds like one noble cause if you ask me.

This sure doesn't seem fair for her or the baby raccoons.

"Milloy is also asking any licenced wildlife rehabilitators who can help her to e-mail her at uchatme13@gmail.com."
